Teacher - Mrs Caroline Desmond English - this term we have focused on narratives using "The Mysteries of Harris Burdidi" for inspiration. We have used Van Gogh's masterpieces to write descriptions, and will also be studying 'Expositions and Poetry'. 5/6D are studying symbols and the way Symbols give identity to subcultures. We have created some amazing group artwork using Chinese, Peace and beach symbols. In technology we have been using "Photoshop" to distort and liquefy air images. The class has also created tables using word and developed our Word Processing Skills. Sport this term is PSSA Netball and Soccer which are in full swing on Friday afternoons. Those not involved are enjoying Aussie Rules coaching. We are all building up our stamina for the Cross Country. Maths - so far in our multiplication challenge year 5 are winning against year 6. Lots of work with fractions and decimals, place value and devising mental computation strategies! In Creative Arts Vincent Van Gogh has inspired 5/6D to create 'Starry Nights' and the 75 year anniversary of the Harbour Bridge has also been inspirational. Excursions - Macquarie ICT on the 19th March. We will see how images are distorted in the media and design symbols for our sub-culture. Other information - we enjoy helping our buddies in KM - they are so cute!
