4R
Teacher - Mrs Patrice Rowe
This term we are working on non fiction texts for guided reading - our class novel is "Atilla the Hun" which complements our COG unit. We are also working on Report, Description and Exposition Text Types. Our COG's unit is 'The Effects of Growth and Change". we are looking at the life of the Emperor Penguin and the changes in our own lives. In PDHPE healthy food choices are viewed along with lifestyle, fitness and drug education. Our local focus is on the Blue Gum High Forest and how our area has changed over time. We also grew grass and weeds from the local area lawn clippings and a crystal. Maths - We are studying Fractions, number, times tables to 7, addition, 2 digit subtraction and division. In measurement we look at litres, square centimetres, perimeter and kilograms, Space looks at location and paths, geometry, symmetry of 2 and 3 D spaces. In data we are analysing picture graphs and column graphs. Year 4 will visit the ICT unit at Macquarie University this term and participate in animation using the Kahootz program. Our Assembly Item "c'mon Aussie" allowed the whole class to participate as the crowd, the cricketers, umpires and even a 'streaker' made an appearance. Besides our item we made a great "Happy Feet" collage using various techniques and have designed and made a "surprise" gift for Mothers Day.
Class members are involved in Music Groups,
Junior and Senior Band and the String Ensemble.
