Term 4
It is wonderful to be back and to see all the great things the children have been doing.
English
Reading groups will continue on both Monday and Wednesday morning at 9:15 for half an hour, so if you are able to assist it would be very much appreciated. Please encourage your child to change their Home Readers on a regular basis and to practise their sight words each night. If your child is confidently reading all the sight words encourage them to write short sentences containing the different words.
COGs
Our COGS unit this term is How Things Change, there will be an optional mini project on ‘How I have grown and changed’. We will also be investigating the changes in the weather and the changes that occur in plant and animal growth.
Mathematics
This term the children will consolidate their understanding of addition, subtraction and grouping. We will also be exploring time, area and numbers fifteen to twenty. The children’s learning will be a combination of hands-on activities, smart board activities and written work.
Talking and Listening
The children will be encouraged to prepare a short talk on the following topics.
Week 2 What you were like as a baby.
Week 4 Animal Talk
Week 6 Christmas List
Week 8 Your Family Christmas Celebrations
These talks will take the place of the children’s usual news items.
Music
Combined singing will be on a Monday afternoon and we will soon be commencing our practice for our end of year concert. This concert will be held on 11 December at 2pm. KM children will be sing a special Christmas song at this concert.
