Clubs

Chess

Chess club is available to students in years 5 and 6 this term. It is run by Mrs Morcom in her classroom, 2nd half of lunch on Mondays

Computer

Computer club operates in the computer room on Wednesdays. Even weeks K-2 are invited to use the computers and on odd weeks students in years 3-6 are invited.

Creative Arts

Students at Gordon East participate in a range of experiences in creative arts. As well as extensive classroom creativity, twice a year students participate in ‘Raw Art’ incursions where specialist art teachers ‘team teach’ with classroom teachers to provide high quality art lessons.

In 2009 Mrs Tania McGurgan, a High School Visual Arts teacher is working with Years 5 and 6, creating exquisite art works.

Creative Arts Club continues to operate on a Tuesday at lunchtime. Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 are able to enjoy exciting art and craft activities with Mrs Wilcox and Miss Brincat.

Choir

Our choir run by Miss Greene involves students from Year 3 to 6 who rehearse at lunchtimes. In 2009 the choir is again participating in the Ryde School’s Spectacular held at the Sydney Opera House and all choirmembers are enjoying not only the rehearsals but also the opportunity to perform in a mass choir with students from across Northern Sydney.

Drama

All students participate in Drama activities in class and perform for the parents and students during the year at School Assemblies. Parents are warmly invited to attend these performances.

Dance

Gordon East has two dance groups – a senior and junior. Dancers rehearse on a Wednesday at lunchtime under the guidance of a specialist dance teacher.  They perform at school events and recently participated in the Sydney North Dance Festival.
